Description:
The ILO, the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, the Confederation of Employers of Uzbekistan and the Federation of Trade Unions came together to organize a conference on labour rights. During the conference, we had the opportunity to participate in a panel on “Transforming Business Practices through Gender Equality and Responsible Business Conduct”, where we discussed the importance of gender equality initiatives in order to advance labour rights and better working conditions for women in Uzbekistan.
The main takeaway from this panel was the common agreement on the need to promote shared responsibility, training on alternative behaviors (not just on what not to do), recognizing and rewarding positive behavior, integrating behavioral expectations into performance reviews and promotions, encouraging men to participate, and choosing the right time to do it.
